  • + Admission Policy

    • The Cadek Conservatory maintains an open admission policy for all students no matter ages or musical experience.
    • All students must be registered for the lessons in which they are participating prior to the start of each term.  No lessons will be taught by a teacher until registration is complete for the given term.
    • Registration periods for each term are posted on Cadek’s schedule and academic calendar.
    • A “privately enrolled student” is entitled to one lesson per week, for the term for which the student has registered and purchased. 
    • “Group students,” those who participate only in group activities, are charged per the regular fee schedule for the course in which they enroll.
  • + Registration and Payments

    • All students must be registered in ACTIVE prior to beginning lessons in any given term.  
    • Registration will close 3 weeks after the beginning of any given term.  
  • + Missed Lessons

    • Once a schedule has been agreed upon by the teacher and student, all parties are committed to that schedule.  Changes to a regularly scheduled lesson within a given term must be agreed upon by all parties involved.
    • Teachers are not required to reschedule lessons missed by the students.  We kindly ask that parents notify teachers of scheduled absences as soon as possible.
    • No refunds will be given for missed lessons..
    • If lessons are missed by the instructor, the instructor will provide makeup lessons. Schedules for makeup lessons must be conducted during the current term.  Scheduled absences will be communicated at least 48 hours in advance whenever possible.  In the event of an unplanned absence from lessons, the instructor will notify students as soon as they are able.
    • For group lessons, no individual make-ups will be offered due to the nature of the class.  
    • The Cadek Conservatory of Music is a department of Girls Preparatory School. Girls Preparatory School will not issue credits or refunds for missed lessons
  • + Withdrawal/Terminations/Refunds

    New Rules Effective October 16, 2023
    • Terminations:  If a student terminates their lessons prior to the end of the given term they are registered for, refunds/credits will not be issued
    • Refunds:  Cadek does not issue refunds for missed lessons.  
    • Withdrawals:  Students who register for classes may withdraw from lessons without penalty provided they:
      1. Have not attended any lessons prior to withdrawal, and
      2. Initiate withdrawal during the enrollment period for the given term.  No refunds will be issued after registration has closed.
    • Students or parents may request an instructor submit a withdrawal exception form for consideration of extraordinary situations, but restrictions apply and approval or compensation is not guaranteed.
  • + Holidays

    • The Cadek Conservatory of Music observes the same holidays as GPS; however, the Conservatory produces its own academic calendar which can be found here.
  • + Inclement Weather + Closings

    • The Cadek Conservatory of Music is a department of Girls Preparatory School. It will maintain its normal schedule during inclement weather (including snow) unless Girls Preparatory School cancels classes. Any such closings will be immediately announced on the GPS homepage at www.gps.edu as well as all GPS Social Media.  Should the Bright or McCallie campuses close, lessons at those locations will also be canceled.  At all locations, instructors will reach out to all affected students.
    • Girls Preparatory School will not issue credits or refunds for these cancellations or closures. The instructor will provide makeup lessons. Schedules for makeup lessons are at the discretion of instructors and can only be conducted during the current term.  Schedules for makeup group classes are at the discretion of the instructor.  In the event that a student is unable to attend a rescheduled group class, refunds will not be issued.
  • + Student Conduct

    • Conduct of children and students who are not attending a scheduled lesson while in the Conservatory are the responsibility of the parent(s).  Children should not be left unattended at any Cadek location.
    • In accordance with GPS policy, children and students under 18 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times while visiting the Conservatory. This includes outdoor courtyard areas, restrooms, and water fountain visits.
    • Students under 12 years of age MUST be accompanied by an adult during their entire visit to Cadek at GPS.  They CANNOT be dropped off to attend lessons in the Conservatory without adult supervision.
    • At the Cadek Conservatory of Music, children and students are not allowed to roam hallways and are not allowed unsupervised outside.  We ask that parents supervise their children at all times. 
    • For security of instruments, equipment, and other property, no one of any age, parent, child, or student, is allowed in studios without being accompanied by an instructor or the Cadek Coordinator.
  • + Parking

    • Parking is free and located in the parking lot adjacent to the Cadek Conservatory Building on the GPS campus, and overflow parking is available in the main parking lot on GPS's campus. 
    • Handicap parking is located on the side of the Cadek building on Island Ave next to Studio 8
    • Parking is free for students and parents during lessons at The Bright School as well. Please park in unreserved spaces.
